President of the Agrofilm
prof. Ing. Ladislav Hetényi, PhD.President of the International Film Festival Agrofilm 2010
Professor Hetényi is not a beginner in the community of “men in Agrofilms”. He participated in various positions in forming the positive image and good name of Agrofilm, which is specific in being hold in premises of a scientific-research institution as the only one of this kind. As the president of Agrofilm 2005, he proclaimed in the opening address his attitude towards art and science in following words: “Agrofilm creates ideal space for enrichment of the spiritual world of the strictly rational sphere of science and research. It represents a symbolic, cultured and mutual enriching holding out of hands of art and science.” While arts represent a life-long avocation for Prof. Hetényi, science and research are his life-long profession. He works the fourth decade in the sphere of agricultural research. In the Research Institute for Animal Production he passed through all positions from the research beginner, assistant, research assistant and senior scientific worker up to the managing director of the institute. In his scientific work he aims his attention mainly at the sphere of animal breeding, protection of biodiversity and animal gene pool. He cooperates with international organisations – FAO UN, OECD, and European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP). He is coordinator of Slovakia in EAAP and for the sphere of protection of animal genetic resources. Pedagogical activity of Professor Hetényi is broad. He is professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, where he lectures bioethics during the last five years. During the last session, he lectured as guest lecturer at a number of Slovak and foreign universities. He is supervisor of doctoral study and guarantor of the study programme general animal production. He is member of Slovak and foreign Scientific Boards of a number of academic and scientific-research institutions, departmental advisory organs and self-governing organisations.
During the last 20 years he devotes himself intensively to charity activities. He was vice president of the foundation VISAGE Slovakia; at present, he is member of the Board of Directors in the world foundation Heifer International with seat in Arkansas USA, one of the main aims of which is struggle against hunger and poverty. These activities represent for Prof. Hetényi confirmation of general validity and verification of continuous relevance and truthfulness of the festival’s motto: „Bread and Peace to People” in the reality and practice of these days.
